The College of Health Sciences prepares the next generation of health and human service professionals to improve quality of life and address health disparities in their communities. The College offers five undergraduate degrees in Clinical Lab Science, Health Promotion, Rehabilitation Sciences, Social Work and Kinesiology. There are six master's degrees in the college: Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy (transitioning to OTD by 2022), Public Health, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, and Kinesiology. There are currently two doctoral programs in the CHS: Doctor of Physical Therapy and a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences. High impact educational experiences enable students to develop leadership, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, as well as a strong sense of social responsibility through community and global engagement opportunities.

Faculty and students engage in teaching, research, and service, incorporating Boyer's Model of the scholarship of discovery, integration, application/engagement, and teaching and learning, all related to the applied health sciences (https://www.utep.edu/chs/). The College's facilities and programs are designed to promote interprofessional teaching, learning, research and community & global engagement initiatives. The College of Health Sciences enjoys a strong and collaborative relationship with a range of local, national and global community partners. Graduate and undergraduate students participate actively with faculty clinical and research mentors in conducting a variety of projects relevant to addressing health inequities and improving quality of life in the Paso del Norte region and beyond.



Job Description:


The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites Audiology applications and nominations for two full-time Open Rank, Tenure-Track Faculty Positions in Audiology/Speech-Language Pathology. UTEP is seeking driven, innovative, and experienced leaders. Responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate teaching, maintaining an active research portfolio, academic advising, oversight of student research projects, professional and scholarly activities, service to the university and community, and accreditation and candidacy duties.

There may be opportunities to be involved in the development of a new Doctor of Audiology curriculum. The new faculty members may play a major role in the realization of the strategic plan and initiatives of the UTEP College of Health Sciences. This is a 9-month faculty appointment.



Requirements:


The successful candidates must meet the following qualifications:
  • An earned Doctoral Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences & Disorders, Speech/Hearing Science (Ph.D.) or Audiology (Ph.D., Au.D.);
  • Credentialed and licensed Audiologist/Speech-Language Pathologist with eligibility in Texas and minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of Audiology/Speech-Language Pathology;

Applicants with teaching, clinical, and research interests in any of the Audiology/Speech-Language Pathology areas will be considered. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience and record of research, teaching, and service. Candidates who have ASHA Certification (CCC-SLP, CCC-A) and eligibility for Texas state licensure will be preferred. ABD candidates will be considered.
