Bunker Hill Community College seeks one (1) full-time, tenure-track English Language Learning (ELL) faculty member who demonstrates a passion for teaching and working with a diverse faculty, staff and student population. Applicants must be experienced or capable of teaching ELL integrated skills in learning community courses. Faculty may be assigned courses at one or more of the College's locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach integrated skills along with challenging academic content in ELL courses for academic purposes.
  • Participate in on-going curriculum review, development and assessment of ELL courses.
  • Use innovative and evidence-based teaching pedagogies such as theme-based teaching, community-based teaching, culturally sustaining pedagogies, differentiated instruction and use of authentic and OER course materials.
  • Use multiple measures to evaluate student performance in the classroom and student portfolios to determine appropriate placement and movement to next level.
  • Use new technologies in the classroom and teach remote and online classes.
  • Teach in learning communities in which some content courses are paired with ELL courses.
  • Support students in making meaningful connections between academic content and personal experiences.
  • Engage in on-going professional development and collaboration across the college.
  • Actively participate as a faculty member in the general College community and fulfill duties as stipulated in the MCCC Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Job Requirements:
  • Master's degree in TESOL or Applied Linguistics required. Master's degree or Doctorate in a related field with core coursework in teaching English Language Learners will be considered if graduate transcript(s) are submitted with application.
  • Experience in college-level teaching of ELL courses.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse student, faculty and staff population.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments and work areas.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in teaching at community college.
  • Experience in teaching online, hybrid and remote modalities.
  • Demonstrated experience with artificial intelligence in the teaching learning process.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching in an online format.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting student retention as part of teaching and learning.


Additional Information:

Salary: $58,438.00 - $62,960.00 (Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education and Experience in Accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.) Full Time Benefited position.
